Case Study – British Council

Women in Iraq

Serene Communications worked with the British Council to provide training for Iraqi women from a variety of backgrounds.  The participants learnt how to do radio and tv interviews, how to create a communications plan and how to make the best use of the media.

Many of the participants have subsequently been involved with public life including the Iraq parliament.  Due to our experience working with women in Iraq, we provided a statement to the Iraq commission.

Serene Communications has been significantly involved in establishing the International Coordination for Gender Justice in Iraq, organising a number of events in venues such as Amnesty International, University College of London, Houses of Parliament.  Briefings for parliamentarians have been held and the Associate All Party Group on Women Peace and Security has Iraq as one of its fields of endeavour.  The ICGJI has coordinated most of the related events.
